Amaterasu - Limited Edition Print

Amaterasu Ookami-sama is the Japanese goddess of the sun and the universe. She is very important to Shinto and is connected to the origin of Japan. She is also a patroness of weavers and rice fields - all bounty is said to come from her. She has also been associated with warrior women and the Japanese women's movement. Although she is not technically a bodhisattva, she too represents qualities potential to all human beings. The sun, as a heavenly body, has a perspective of equinamity; of compassion and giving to all living beings. Thus Amaterasu conveys the ultimate love and life giving properties of the star which makes our entire existence possible.
