Avalokitesvara is sometimes called 'He who
hears the cries of the world.' Both Kwan Yin and Tara are said to
emanate from him. His story is that he looked down on the world and saw
all the suffering and desired to help those who suffered. He split his
head into eleven heads and grew a thousand arms, but no matter how he
changed, there was still suffering in the world. Ever strives to help
those who suffer and is the embodiment of empathy and compassion.
