Kwan Yin is known by many names in Asia, including China where she is revered by both Buddhists and Taoists. She is known as the Mother of Compassion and often associated with the Virgin Mary. In some places where Christianity was outlawed, Christians would hide their worship through devotion to Kwan Yin. She is also sometimes called the mother of Buddha. It is said she has vowed not to rest until there is an end to suffering.
